The Cherpumple (Or, If One Dessert Wasn’t Enough)

Amy Rogers’ pumpkin pie trifle got me looking for other interesting pie “change-ups.” Well, hark! Because, thanks to SFoodie, I have found the most creative and questionable dessert mash-up of all time. And let me just say… I don’t know how I missed this. Behold, the Cherpumple.

The Cherpumple is the brainchild of writer Charles Phoenix, who calls his monstrosity the turducken of desserts. It’s an assortment of three store-bought pies baked inside three box-mix cakes, all stacked on top of each other, cemented with loads of cream cheese frosting. It’s an ode to the best and worst of America, a mix of ingenuity and conspicuous consumption.

And in case you missed this work of culinary inspiration, Chow introduced us to the Thanksgiving Turkey Cake. A few key ingredients: 2 pounds ground turkey breast, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, marshmallows, cranberry sauce and gravy.

Whether this Thanksgiving centerpiece incites horror, amazement, or confusion when it’s served, it’s certain to evoke some kind of outburst. Warning: This dish is not recommended for people who require an inch of space between food groups.
